5 DIY Work From Home Hairstyles

By Makenna Ashley

I know so many who are working from home right now with the current situation, so I wanted to bring some happy hair inspiration from my house to yours! While half the days I'm living in sweats - I do at times want or need to get ready for work related things.

Here are five hairstyles that are quick and easy to replicate. When I'm working, I tend to want the hair out of my face so I can focus fully, and these styles will help that as well. All of them can be done in five minutes or less which is ideal since I am not wanting to put in a ton of effort but still look presentable, when I have to for those zoom meetings.

With all of these hairstyles you'll just want to start out with some loose curls. Now, I wear extensions (20" from Cashmere Hair) and this makes my getting ready even quicker only because the curls in the extensions will hold for so long so I literally just clip in, do a quick touch up on my natural hair if needed, and go!

1. Braided Half Up/Down Style

I love this one because it gets  all the hair away from my face and pulled back into a small pony. Half up/down styles are my go-to simply because my hair is still down, but out of my face which with littles running around or work it makes it easier and less hassle for me!

*Tip for this style - keep the braid close to your hair line. Then once you reach your ear you'll start to pull the hair back towards the back of your head.

2. Clip And Go

You ready for one of the quickest styles out there?! Clips! Grab a clip of choice and pull your hair into a deep side part. Insert the clip and 3, 2, 1, you're done!

3. Headbands

Another fast one that adds just a touch of "cute" to your style - a headband! I like to pull out pieces in front of the headband to frame my face with. There are so many cute headbands out there these days, so everyone can find one that's their own personal style.

I also double this for when I'm getting ready in the morning and want all the hair out of my face to do my makeup. Headbands for the win!

4. Side Braid

A tried and true hairstyle, the side braid. I start mine out in the back and then after a few ties I pull it around to the front. I do this 1.) because your arms can start to burn holding your hair up that long, and 2.) because starting it in the back will make it so that I can wear it as a normal braid that lays on my back, or I can pull it around to the front. This is nice again when you're going around the house cleaning, chasing littles, want to hop on a work call, etc.

5. Braided Ponytail

For this pony you'll want to start the braid a couple inches back from your hair line. This way, you still have some pieces to frame your face.

I like using a clear elastic for ponytails when I want them to have an extra bouncy look. I'm not sure what it is about the clear elastics, but they really give my ponytails more volume than any other hair tie!

I hope you found some inspo in these 5 quick hairstyles for when we are working from home! Sometimes when things feel overwhelming I stop to practice some gratitude. In some of the hardest seasons of my life, I kept a "gratitude journal" where I would write anything and everything I was grateful for to keep my perspective right and my head above water.

If you're feeling the weight of what's going on right now in the world, and it's robbing you of peace, I would encourage you to grab a journal or piece of paper and write out what you're grateful for! Heres are a few from my list to get you thinking:

I am thankful for my family, hiking, cooking, reading and walks on the beach.

What are you thankful for in the midst of all this chaos? Have you seen beautiful acts of service taking place? Have you been helped or have been able to give to someone in need?Don't forget, we are in this together and this will pass! xo
